| DM-INV-DCbonuspack - File Description |
 |
Description: The Dead Cat Special Weapons Invasion maps were created for individual use and for network play on dedicated servers. They are designed expressly for the UT2K3 Invasion game mode. All six of these levels are copyrighted by Epic Games and Toonces T. Cat, Balefire, and Hobi-Wan. They may not be used for any purpose other than game-play without the express consent of the copyright holders.
Each map has ten additional weapons built in that are usually not a part of "Normal Weapons" game-play. These include: the Helios Rifle, a Colt Peacemaker, an MP5 with Grenade Launcher, a Benneli Shotgun, the Fyrian Cannon, the PIC...or Personal Ion Cannon, Sentinel Deployer...which places either floor or ceiling mounted Sentry Guns much like those from the film Aliens, the Noisy Cricket from Men in Black. and the Sniper Rifle from the original Unreal Tournament...Two of the levels also contain a Super Shock Rifle.
There are no known weapon bugs.
The weapons alternate with the following keys:
0 = Redeemer, Ion Painter, PIC, Sentinel Deployer
1 = Shield Gun
2 = Assault Rifle
3 = Bio Rifle
4 = Shock Rifle, Super Shock Rifle, Colt Peacemaker
5 = Link Gun
6 = Minigun, Fyrian Cannon, MP5
7 = Flak Cannon, FireChucker, Noisy Cricket
8 = Rocket Launcher, Benneli Shotgun
9 = Lightning Gun, UT99 Sniper Rifle, Helios
If you re-bind any of the standard UT2003 weapons to another key the special weapons, as listed above, will also move to the new key binding.
IMPORTANT NOTE #1
To ensure full compliance and no version conflict errors, completely remove all files associated with any earlier versions of the weapon mutators.
This includes all files that are part of an earlier version of the Wild West mutator:
WildWest.int
WildWest.u
wildwest_sounds.uax
wildwestpak__animations.ukx
wildwest_staticmeshes.usx
WildwestSkins.utx
...and all files that are parts of the Sentinel Beta, Beta2, Beta3, or Beta4 mutators.
Any files that need to be updated will be replaced by the .ut2mod installer.
There have been numerous changes in the maps. Expect the unexpected and you won't be disappointed...:-)
IMPORTANT NOTE #2
Some of the Invasion maps have secret areas. These areas can be extremely difficult to reach without killing yourself. Some of these zones are protected by deadly mazes. Make sure that your "World Detail" setting is set to at least "High" or you will not be able to see the things that can kill you.***
IMPORTANT NOTE #3
In order to use the Dead Cat Invasion Map Pack on a UT2003 Server, you will need to add the following lines to their ut2003.ini file in the [Engine.GameEngine] section of the file:
[Engine.GameEngine]
ServerPackages=WildWest_v101
ServerPackages=FireChucker
ServerPackages=SA109
ServerPackages=Sentinel
ServerPackages=Fyrian
ServerPackages=PIC
ServerPackages=MIB
ServerPackages=Helios
ServerPackages=ZencodersweaponsV17
Enjoy!

| | | DM-INV-DCbonuspack - Readme | | Readme File: Revision 1.1 - Updates all maps with new weapons and is compliant with "Small Weapons" and the "UTClassic" mutator.
TO ENSURE FULL COMPLIANCE AND NO VERSION CONFLICT ERRORS, COMPLETELY REMOVE ALL FILES ASSOCIATED WITH EARLIER BETA VERSIONS OF THE WEAPON MUTATORS.
THIS INCLUDES ALL FILES THAT ARE PART OF THE WILD WEST MUTATOR:
WildWest.int
WildWest.u
wildwest_sounds.uax
wildwestpak__animations.ukx
wildwest_staticmeshes.usx
WildwestSkins.utx
...AND ALL FILES THAT ARE PART OF THE SENTINEL BETA, BETA2, BETA3, BETA4 or BETA5 MUTATOR.
ANY FILES THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED ARE CONTAINED IN THIS FINAL VERSION OF THE INVASION MAP PACK.
The file: DM-(IN)DCWeaponsInvasionPack.ut2 is a place holder...DO NOT PUT IT INTO YOUR MAPS FOLDER!
All of the weapons in these maps are now fully compliant with "Small Weapons" and with UTClassic.
Finally, the .ut2UMOD file installs the Map Pack automatically, but there are many features involving the ten additional weapons which are fairly complex. To learn how to properly use the new weapons, please click on the "Release Notes" button when the installation is finished. You may also go into the UT2003\Help directory and double-click on the file "DC-SW-INV-Maps.html" at any time to get help.

Miah,
Shotgun Gulch is a very strange map and it was always problematical for Inavsion. It always had spawn issues for the monsters. A much improved version of it is included in the CTF Special Weapons Map Pack. In the updated Invasion Pack, I replaced it with (IN)Blue World which is half of CTF-(SW)Parallel Worlds.
I am glad you like the maps!

Thanks for the input Toonces.
What about a straight DC DM & Team DM map pack with it & others? Honestly I never even tried Shotgun Gulch, Silly Liver, or Lily Liver in Invasion, always played them as (10-16 person) Team DM.
Also would there be any weird conflicts if I copied the older removed maps(SG, LL, SL) into my map directory after installing the latest map pack? Obviously I wouldn't have the Noisy Cricket & Helios..but that wouldn't bother me.
Thanks
Miah
Miah,
The older CTF levels should work just fine as they are 100% self-contained. Only the ones with the (SW), (INV), or (IN) prefix require the additional files. The only extra weapons in the older CTF versions are the MP5 and the Shotgun. They are exactly the same guns, without the "Small Weapons" compatibility and separate ammo pick-ups.
Do NOT try to use both Invasion packs at the same time or you probably will get a conflict. Honestly, I don't know for sure as I haven't tried it. I did update the UT99 Sniper Rifle mute in them and that would likely be a real problem if you have both versions running at the same time. That's why I released them as .ut2mod files this time. The (SW) and the (IN) packs have over 130 files in each of them....It just became too complex for a manual install...LOL
Glad you like the stuff...Drop me an email if you ever have a request. the addy is in the help files...:-)

What I was trying to do is install the old Inv pack, make copies of the map files, uninstall old & install the new inv pack. Then copy the removed maps(SG, LL, & SL only)into the map directory.
Will the old INV maps work with all the updated files in your new INV mappack?
Thanks for the help Toonces
Miah
Miah,
It should work foryou as long as you don't uninstall the SA108 UT Sniper Rifle mute. The actors in the maps are more or less built in built-in. If you want it all to work at the same time do the following:
1.) Uninstall both Invasion packs.
2.) Install the first Invasion pack.
3.) Install the second Inavsion pack without removing the first pack.
The files that need to be overwritten for the second pack will be, but the stuff you need to run the maps for the first pack should still be there...including the maps. Other than the new weapons that were added, the only changes involved the MP5, the Shotgun, and the UT99 Sniper Rifle. The leftover files from the first pack will be the UT99 Sniper Rifle stuff as the MP5 and the Shotgun are fully built into the first pack. If you do this, the following should be the only issues:
1.) On the older maps, you will not be able to use the "Small Weapons" feature for the MP5, the Shotgun, and the UT99 Sniper Rifle.
2.) You will lose your crosshairs on the older maps if you switch weapons while zoomed with the UT99 Sniper Rifle.
3.) You may have a conflict if you try to use the UT99 SNiper Rifle mute as a "Replacer" or "Arena" style mute with both versions in place.
Hope this works for you and I am very happy that you like the maps...
